We are still offering Covid Vaccinations. If you have not had the Covid Virus or a Covid Vaccination within 6 months, you may be eligible for a booster shot. While our books are closed to new patients for routine appointments, we do offer Covid Vaccinations to patients that are not registered with our practice. Appointments for Covid shots can be booked on Hotdoc or by phoning the practice.
Approximately, two in three Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer by the time they are 70. Non-melanoma skin cancer is more common in men, with almost double the incidence compared to women.
Excluding non-melanoma skin cancer (non-melanoma skin cancers are not notified to cancer registries), melanoma is the third most common cancer in Australians.
Our doctors have a keen interest and skill with the early detection of skin cancers. Excisions are scheduled and performed on site with great care and precision ensuring maximum outcomes.
With the expert hands of our nursing staff, any follow-up wound care and education is always available.
Our practice offers antenatal and infant care, giving expectant mothers the reassurance of continuity of care during pregnancy and follow-up post-natal care following the birth.
Whilst women’s health is available on a daily basis, we also have the great pleasure of having Women’s Health Nurse Jodie Bell visit the practice once a month to perform cervical screen tests and other women’s health needs.
A person’s mental health affects how they feel, think, behave and relate to others. Mental illness covers a spectrum of disorders that vary in how severe they are and how long they last.
Our doctors are proficient in managing a range of mental health issues of all complexities, they provide expert advice when considering the well-being of each patient and have the facility to provide continuity of care where required. Patients are assessed on and individual basis with a patient and or family-centered approach to their health needs.
Here at Taabinga Family Practice we have three independent Psychologists that work from our rooms. Beverley Freebairn visits monthly. Kate Crowson from South Burnett Psychology and Anita Smith from Mind Science and My Health are available with referral.
One of the greatest needs of the elderly community is maintaining good health. According to the National Council on Ageing, about 92 percent of seniors have at least one chronic disease and 77 percent have at least two. Heart disease, stroke, cancer, and diabetes are among the most common. At Taabinga Family Practice we provide our elderly patients who have chronic diseases with Allied Health assistance through personalised careplans. We empower and support our elderly patients to participate in health assessments to prevent illness and declining health.
Currently Medicare is still supporting telehealth appointments. To book a Telehealth appointment, you can call the Practice on 07 41623116. The doctor will then call you back at your scheduled appointment time.
